April 1, 2019. Principal research scientists of GC RAS, Dr. Sc. Vladimir Kaftan was awarded the commemorative medal "100 years of the establishment of the Higher Geodesic Service" for his great personal contribution to the formation and development of the field of geodesy and cartography, for active work on the promotion and implementation of scientific and technical achievements.

On March 15, 1919, the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR issued the Decree “On the Establishment of the Higher Geodesic Service” at the Scientific and Technical Department of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR, signed by V.I. Lenin. The formation of the geodesic-cartographic sector of the national economy begins on this historic date. One of the main tasks was the unification and coordination of the "geodetic activity of all the commissariats and institutions of the Republic”.

On March 27, 2024, at the Scientific Seminar of the GC RAS, Research Scientist of the Schmidt Institute of Physics of the Earth of RAS Yevgeny Fattakhov presented his report "Development of Methods for Long-term Series Analysis of Geodeformation Observations in Seismically Active and Oil and Gas Bearing Regions" (based on his PhD thesis).

March 27, 2024. On March 26, 2024, at a meeting of the Bureau of the Department of Earth Sciences of RAS, Director of the Geophysical Center of RAS Corresponding Member of RAS Anatoly Soloviev was awarded the Medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" 2nd grade.

March 21, 2024. On March 21, 2024, a regular meeting of the Scientific Council was held at the Geophysical Center of RAS.

March 13, 2024. On March 13, 2024, at the Scientific Seminar of the GC RAS, PhD Alexey Morozov presented his report "Seismicity of the Western Sector of the Russian Arctic and Adjacent Territories during the Instrumental Observation Period".
