October 10, 2023. On October 10, 2023, a meeting of the Bureau of the Department of Earth Sciences of the RAS was held by Academician-Secretary of the RAS Academician of the RAS N. S. Bortnikov. One of the issues under consideration was the approval by secret ballot of the candidacy of Academician of the RAS A. D. Gvishiani for the position of scientific director of the GC RAS for a new term of 2023–2028. A. D. Gvishiani was recommended for a new five-year term for the position of scientific director.

There was also discussion of holding the All-Russian Scientific Conference Lavyorov Readings 2024. It was decided to hold the conference in the twenties of January 2024 and devote it to natural and human-made disasters. The Bureau will propose Academician-Secretary of the RAS Academician of the RAS N. S. Bortnikov to the Presidium of the RAS for the post of chairman of the organizing committee of the Lavyorov Readings 2024 and Academicians of the RAS V. G. Bondur and A. D. Gvishianideputy for the posts of vice-chairmen.

April 25, 2024. On April 23, 2024, Chief Scientist of the GC RAS, Academician of RAS Alexey Gvishiani and Director of the GC RAS, Corresponding Member of RAS Anatoly Soloviev took part in an event in honor of the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline.

April 24, 2024. On April 23, 2024, the Presidium of RAS unanimously supported the decision of the expert commission of RAS to award the Golitsyn Prize to Chief Scientist of the GC RAS, Academician of RAS Alexey Gvishiani and Director of the GC RAS, Corresponding Member of RAS Anatoly Soloviev.
