September 9, 2025. A team of researchers from the Institute of Geology of Ore Deposits, Petrography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry (IGEM) RAS and the Geophysical Center RAS conducted a comprehensive analysis of fault tectonics in the northwestern part of the Verkhoyan-Kolyma orogenic region in Eastern Yakutia. The work was published in the Russian Journal of Earth Sciences.
The authors are PhD Vasilii Minaev, PhD Stepan Ustinov, Corresponding Member of RAS Vladislav Petrov, Alexey Svecherevsky, Igor Nafigin (IGEM RAS), Aleksandr Manevich and PhD Dastan Akmatov (GC RAS).
The team analyzed the structure of faults in the region using a complex of modern methods for processing data from remote sensing of the Earth and tectonophysical reconstructions.
As a result, there were identified areas promising for the discovery of new ore objects.
