September 5, 2026. A joint expedition of the Geophysical Center RAS, the Schmidt Institute of Physics of the Earth RAS, and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of RAS took place on Olkhon Island.

The participants included GC RAS scientists: Engineer Vyacheslav Katkov, Leading Engineer Dmitry Sapronov, Junior Research Scientist Yana Taran, and Leading Engineer Sergey Toshchev. The scientists conducted a magnetic survey of the territory adjacent to the Baikal Magneto-Telluric Observatory of the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of RAS.

Among other results, a magnetic spatial anomaly was identified, the nature of which remains to be established in the course of further research.
