July 2, 2018. The 92nd meeting of the Governing Board of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) was held on June 25-26, 2018 in Baden, Austria. IIASA was established in 1972 on the initiative of the USSR and the USA as a platform for non-ideological interaction between East and West.
Academician A. Gvishiani, the national representative of Russia in the IIASA, took part in the work of the IIASA Council.
In connection with the expiration of the contract of Director General of IIASA, Pavel Kabat, the election of Director General was held at the Council meeting, as a result of which Albert van Jaarsfeld, President and Executive Director of the National Science Foundation and Vice-Rector of the University of KvaZulu -Natal, South Africa, was elected as new Director General of IIASA.
The former director of IIASA, Pavel Kabat, from September 1, 2018, begins his work as Director of the Research Department of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
