November 29, 2018. The 47th Lomonosov Readings ended in Pomorie. For the first time ever, 14 academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences, heads of leading scientific institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, members of the Council for Science and Education under the President of the Russian Federation gathered in Arkhangelsk. The main topic of discussion was the creation of a world-class research and education center in the Arkhangelsk region. Acting Director of GC RAS, Corresponding Member of RAS A. A. Soloviev attended the readings.
The theme of this year’s forum is “The heritage of M. V. Lomonosov and the achievements of modern science”. At the invitation of Governor Igor Orlov, a large group of leading academicians and scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences arrived in the capital of Pomorye. This year, members of EB RAS took part in the 47th Lomonosov Readings: Academician-Secretary of EB RAS, Academician A. O. Gliko, Acting Director of GC RAS, Corresponding Member of RAS A. A. Soloviev, Corresponding Member of RAS M. V. Flint and Corresponding Member of RAS K. V. Lobanov (President of the Lomonosov Foundation). The delegation also included other representatives of natural sciences and economics. The delegation was led by Vice-President of RAS, Director of the Institute for Scientific Research of Aerospace Monitoring, Academician V. G. Bondur.
On November 19, the main program of the forum started in Arkhangelsk. The festivities began in the morning - flowers were laid out at the memorial plaque to Nikolai Laverov, the founder of the Lomonosov Foundation. In the evening, in a solemn ceremony in the Drama Theater, a plenary session was held, where the Lomonosov Prizes were presented.
For the first time, open meetings with northerners were organized at the State Medical University, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Education and Science of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Academician G. G. Onishchenko delivered a lecture on health and longevity. Students of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University met with Director of the A.A. Logunov Institute of High Energy Physics of the National Research Center "Kurchatov Institute" Academician S. V. Ivanov, President of the Lomonosov Foundation K. V. Lobanov, Advisor to the Directorate of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Corresponding Member of RAS I. N. Meshkov.
During the event, a solemn meeting was organized in Arkhangelsk, dedicated to the anniversary of the birth of one of the most famous natives of Pomorie. Traditionally, this day flowers are laid at the monuments to the great scientist. Representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Government of the Arkhangelsk Region, the Interregional Lomonosov Foundation, rectors and representatives of the Arctic Federal University and the Northern State Medical University, students gathered at the solemn meeting. A plenary session dedicated to the heritage of the great scientist and the achievements of modern science was held on November 19 in the Drama Theater. The governor of the Arkhangelsk region, Igor Orlov, opened it, noting that our main achievement will always be the ability of our country to give birth to brilliant minds and talents that amaze the world, leading us along the path of progress. A report on aspects of the study of the Earth’s magnetic field was made by Corresponding Member of RAS, Acting Director of GC RAS A. A. Solovyov. Academician V.A. Chereshnev noted in his report "On the current statistics of various aspects of human health" that today special attention is paid to the study of neuroscience. Academician M. V. Flint spoke about "Marine expeditions in the Arctic to study the biocenosis and ecology of the northern seas."
