October 30, 2023. On October 29, 2023, there is the 75th anniversary of Chief Scientist of the Geophysical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (GC RAS) Academician of RAS Alexei Germenovich Gvishiani, an internationally recognized scientist in the fields of mathematical geophysics, seismic hazard assessment, geomagnetism, geoinformatics, system analysis, and big data in the Earth sciences.

In 2005, Alexey Germenovich was elected the Director of the GC RAS and held this post until October 2018. On October 29, 2018, due to reaching the age of 70, he left the post of director and was elected the scientific director of the institute. Academician A. D. Gvishiani proved to be an effective director of the GC RAS. Under his leadership, the organization has achieved scientific results of world significance and become one of the international leaders in the fields of geophysics, geoinformatics, and system analysis. He plays a key role in the development of the scientific strategy of the institute, leading the most promising scientific projects.
