November 15, 2023. On November 15, 2023, International Geographic Information Systems Day has been celebrated since 1999 on the third Wednesday in November.

The main purpose of this event is to spread modern geographical knowledge and increase awareness of GIS technologies.

On this day, developers and users of GIS technologies hold public events – exhibitions, seminars, presentations, open days – and demonstrate the capabilities of geoinformation systems.

GIS data is used in geophysics, geodesy, cartography, geology, meteorology, and other fields.

April 27, 2024. April 27, 2024. On April 17–24, 2024, employees of the Geophysical Center of RAS made reports at the International Scientific Conference of Undegraduate Students, Postgraduates, and Young Scientists "Lomonosov – 2024".

April 26, 2024. On April 26, 2024, D.Sc. Vladimir Kaftan presented a report at the II All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference with International Participation "GEOFORUM. NIZHNY NOVGOROD".

April 25, 2024. On April 23, 2024, Chief Scientist of the GC RAS, Academician of RAS Alexey Gvishiani and Director of the GC RAS, Corresponding Member of RAS Anatoly Soloviev took part in an event in honor of the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline.

April 24, 2024. On April 23, 2024, the Presidium of RAS unanimously supported the decision of the expert commission of RAS to award the Golitsyn Prize to Chief Scientist of the GC RAS, Academician of RAS Alexey Gvishiani and Director of the GC RAS, Corresponding Member of RAS Anatoly Soloviev.
