November 11, 2024. On November 11, 2024, Scientific Secretary of GC RAS PhD Roman Krasnoperov delivered the second lecture as part of the course "Satellite Geophysics" for the students of the Faculty of Geology of Lomonosov Moscow State University. The topic was "Fundamentals of Satellite Remote Sensing and Mapping of the Earth, Moon, and Planets of the Solar System".

The lecture was devoted to the basics of remote sensing of the Earth using spacecraft. The technical aspects of space photography in various spectral ranges were considered. There were discussed some scientific and practical tasks which could be solved using remote sensing data. Roman Krasnoperov briefly spoke about types of space photography, as well as radar survey and satellite altimetry. The lecturer highlighted the main stages of the exploration of the Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars using automatic interplanetary stations, landers, and rovers. Roman Krasnoperov also spoke about the key research missions to explore planets of the Solar System and about some of the results obtained.
