June 15, 2017. A. D. Gvishiani was appointed the new Editor-in-Chief of the electronic scientific Russian Journal of Earth Sciences (RJES), published since 1998. RJES is included in the core of Web of Science, RICC, RSCI, CrossRef and the list of VAK.

The scientific electronic journal Russian Journal of Earth Sciences (RJES), published by GC RAS since 1998, undergoes major changes: new Editor-in-Chief, and the editorial board is also expanding. RJES has entered the core of Web of Science (Core Collection, ESCI) and is preparing for an expert evaluation of Scopus.

In connection with the death of Editor-in-Chief of RJES, an outstanding Russian geologist, Dr. Sc. A. F. Grachev, the Scientific Council of GC RAS proposed a new candidate for the role of the editor-in-chief of the journal, Academician A. D. Gvishiani. The Earth Sciences Department Bureau of RAS has approved this candidate in June 2017.

Academician, Dr. Sc. Aleksey Gvishiani is an expert in the field of mathematical geophysics, geomagnetism, geoinformatics and system analysis of geophysical data, the author of more than 350 scientific works, including 13 monographs and 7 author's certificates. He was awarded the Order of Friendship, medals "The 850th Anniversary of Moscow" and "50 years of the Mongolian People's Revolution" A. Gvishiani is a member of the FASO Scientific Coordinating Council , the RNF Expert Council, holds the post of Deputy Academician-Secretary of ESD RAS, and is a member of editorial boards of various scientific journals: "Izvestia, Physics of the Solid Earth", "Cybernetics and Systems Analysis", "Geology and Geophysics of the South of Russia","Bulletin of the Institute of Geology of Komi Scientific Center of UB RAS" etc.

A few months ago, the Russian Journal of Earth Sciences was included in the core of Web of Science (Core Collection) as part of the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) collection, which represents promising journals with the Clarivate Analytics Impact Factor (formerly Thomson Reuters). RJES is also indexed in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) on the Web of Science platform, is part of RINC (impact factor 0.938), the VAK and CrossRef list (each article published in the journal has a DOI identifier).
