July 8, 2025. The editorial board of the Russian Journal of Earth Sciences (published by the Geophysical Center RAS since 1998) is proud to announce that our journal has successfully passed the examination and is officially included in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the leading database of peer-reviewed open access journals. The DOAJ magazine page: https://doaj.org/toc/1681-1208. This is important for several reasons:

  • Increased visibility and accessibility: DOAJ is an international database with over 20000 journals from 130 countries. Joining DOAJ means that RJES articles will become more accessible to researchers around the world. This will contribute to a wider dissemination of the results of scientific research in Earth sciences obtained by Russian scientists.
  • Quality assurance and peer review: DOAJ carefully selects journals, verifying their compliance with high standards of scientific ethics and peer review. The inclusion in the DOAJ indicates that RJES meets international requirements for publication quality and transparency of peer review.
  • Strengthening the international image: RJES is already included in such large citation databases as Scopus, Web of Science, and GeoRef and has good scientometric indicators. Joining DOAJ further highlights the journal's status as an international and open resource, which attracts more authors and readers from different countries.

Thus, the inclusion of RJES in DOAJ is important for expanding the journal's international influence, increasing the accessibility and quality of scientific publications by Russian scientists, as well as for supporting open science and collaboration in Earth sciences.
