March 14, 2018. A joint workshop of four World Data Centers (WDC) of Russia, which was devoted to the exchange of information on the activities of the Centers and discussion of the directions for further cooperation of Russian World Data Centers within the framework of the World Data System (WDS), took place at the Geophysical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The opening address was given by Director of GC RAS, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences A. Gvishiani. V. Kosykh, Director of RIHMI-WDC, emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Russian WDCs and suggested renewing the Agreement between the Centers. The presentations covered topics such as the cooperation of CODATA, ICSU-WDS and RDA in the field of international research, the development of a system for citing data and data integration (A. Rybkina); electronic scientific journals published by GC RAS – the "Russian Journal of Earth Sciences", "Vestnik ONZ RAN" and "Geoinformatics Research Papers Series" and the "Earth Science DataBase" project, developed at GC RAS and aimed at publishing data with assignment of the digital identifier DOI (E. Kedrov); development of the Russian segment of INTERMAGNET and geomagnetic observatories (M. Dobrovolsky) etc.

As a result of the discussion at the workshop, decisions were aimed at increasing the effectiveness of cooperation between the Russian WDCs and strengthening the role of the Russian segment.
