May 30, 2018. A scientific workshop was held in the Belousov hall at GC RAS. The program included the presentation made by Principal research scientist of the Laboratory of Geoinformatics and Geomagnetic Studies Dr. Sc. R. Yu. Lukyanova on the theme: "Between the cosmos and the atmosphere: effects in the mesosphere of the Earth".
The scientist spoke about the properties of the relatively poorly studied layer of the Earth's atmosphere, the mesosphere, located at an altitude of 70-100 km, located between the underlying neutral atmosphere and the ionosphere, where electromagnetic processes predominate. Methods of mesospheric research include satellite and radar measurements. Particular attention was paid to the results obtained with the help of radars detecting radio echo of meteor traces.
