June 22, 2018. A marathon Comrades for the distance of 91 km took place in South Africa on June 10, 2018. It has been held since 1921 and is one of the most prestigious ultra marathons in the world. This year, Deputy Director for Development of GC RAS Alena Rybkina took part in it.

The track of Comrades for the ultra marathon distance of 91 km passes through the five hills of the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal and starts from Pietermaritzburg with the finish at the stadium of Durban. For the first time Comrades took place on the Day of the Empire on May 24, 1921. With the exception of the war years (1941-1945), the marathon was held annually. This race is recognized as the most massive and prestigious competition. The limit of the distance is 12 hours. In the interval from 11 to 12 hours 80% of the participants of the race finish.

With the result of 7 hours and 26 minutes, which corresponds to the standard of the master of sports, Alena Rybkina won a silver medal and entered the Top 25 women, among more than 20,000 participants. We congratulate Alena Igorevna with this high achievement and wish further victories in life and sport!
