November 5-8, 2018. Deputy Director for Development of GC RAS, member of the CODATA Executive Committee Alena Igorevna Rybkina took an active part in the International Data Week (IDW) in Gaborone (Botswana).
The conference brought together leading experts in data science and was a central event in this field, held with the support of The Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA), the Research Data Alliance (RDA) and the World Data System (WDS). This year IDW gathered over 800 participants from 66 countries of the world. Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi, President of the Republic of Botswana, delivered a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony.
The conference program was divided into three areas: presentations of the 12th Plenary Session of the Research Data Alliance, reports of the SciDataCon, the regular CODATA conference and the Breakout Sessions. Guest speakers include Rob Adam (South African Square Array Radio Telescope), Jörg Helmschrot (SASSCAL), Ismail Serageldin (Biblioteka Alexandria), and others.
Alena Igorevna Rybkina gave a presentation “Modern tools for data visualization: spherical technologies for Arctic data modeling and scientific analysis” at the Visualization and Pattern Recognition Techniques for Understanding Data session. The report highlighted the results obtained in the development of demonstration content in the field of the study of the Arctic.
