November 12-18, 2018. S. Yu. Khomutov, expert of INTERMAGNET and R.V. Sidorov, senior researcher at the Geoinformatics and Geomagnetic Research Laboratory of GC RAS, visited the Klimovskaya magnetic observatory (Konoshsky District, Arkhangelsk Region), maintained by the GC RAS.

During this trip, S. Yu. Khomutov examined the magnetic observatory. Together with the chief specialist of the Geodynamics Laboratory of the Geophysical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, V. Kabrov, an employee of the observatory, several control series of measurements of the absolute values of the Earth’s magnetic field were carried out, followed by monitoring the magnetic field gradient in the observatory pavilion. Following the results of a scientific audit, S. Yu. Khomutov formulated a number of recommendations for improving the quality of the recorded data and the functioning of the observatory as a whole.
