February 5, 2024. On February 1, 2024, the Department of Earth Sciences of RAS held the scientific conference «Dangerous Natural Phenomena and Disasters: Causes, Consequences, Prevention Possibilities» («Lavyorov Readings – 2024»).

Scientific Director of the GC RAS Academician of RAS Alexey Gvishiani made a report «Fuzzy Set Theory and Big Data in the Problem of Natural Hazards and Catastrophes». The conference was attended by employees of the GC RAS, including Director of the GC RAS Corr. Member of RAS Anatoly Soloviev, Deputy Director for Science D.Sc. Boris Dzeboev, Scientific Secretary PhD Roman Krasnoperov, and many others.

«Lavyorov Readings» is a traditional annual conference held by the Department of Earth Sciences of RAS in memory of Nikolay Lavyorov, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Soviet Union and RAS, Vice-President of RAS in 1988–2016. In 2024, the event was dedicated to the 300th anniversary of RAS.
