May 23, 2024. On May 22, 2024, scientists of the Laboratory of Geodynamics at the Geophysical Center of RAS defended their PhD theses at the National University of Science and Technology MISiS.
Junior Research Scientist Dastan Zhenishbekovich Akmatov defended his thesis "Rock Mass Stability Assessment Based on the Three-Dimensional Geomechanical Model for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste" (specialty: geomechanics, rock destruction, mining aerogasodynamics, and mining thermophysics).
Research Scientist Roman Vasilyevich Shevchuk defended his thesis "Substantiation and Development of a Method for Identifying Areas of Possible Deterioration of Insulation Properties of a Rock Mass Based on Deformation Analysis" (specialty: mining and oil and gas field geology, geophysics, surveying, and subsurface geometry).
The scientific works were prepared on the basis of the Geophysical Center of RAS, in the scientific group at the Laboratory of Geodynamics. The ideas and main tasks were formulated under the guidance of Corresponding Member of RAS D.Sc. Viktor Tatarinov, the Chief of the Laboratory of Geodynamics. Research Scientist Alexander Manevich was the curator of the expeditions, the data from which formed the basis of dissertations.
Cooperation between the GC RAS and MISIS for research and training is carried out on the basis of the Scientific and Educational Center "Geodynamics and Geoecology of the Subsurface: Modeling, Forecasting, and Monitoring" (established in 2015). The scientists of the GC RAS teach at MISIS. MISIS students annually get an internship at the GC RAS and often become part of the team.
We congratulate our colleagues on their successful defense and wish them further achievements in scientific work.
Dastan Akmatov.
