May 29, 2024. On May 27, 2024, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Earth Sciences of RAS, Academician of RAS Nikolay Bortnikov made a report "The Main Achievements of the Department of Earth Sciences in the XXI century and the Most Important Scientific Achievements in Earth Sciences Received made by Russian Scientists in 2023".

Among the main achievements, there was noted the research implemented by the Geophysical Center of RAS and the Institute of Earthquake Prediction Theory and Mathematical Geophysics of RAS. Scientists have created the Integrated Earthquake Catalog of the Eastern Sector of the Russian Arctic (including the Gakkel and Knipovich ridges, as well as the Svalbard Archipelago) with a unified magnitude scale.

This is the most complete and representative catalog of earthquakes in the Russian Arctic. It unifies earthquake data from the regional catalogs of the Geophysical Survey of RAS (Yakutia, Northeastern Russia, Kamchatka, the Arctic, Eastern European Platform, and Svalbard), the regional catalog of the seismic network of the Laverov Federal Center for Integrated Arctic Research of UB RAS, the regional catalog of the western sector of the Russian Arctic, and data from the International Seismological Centre. The catalog contains information about 45793 seismic events in 1962–2022.

The catalog is freely available on the website of the World Data Center for Solid Earth Physics.
