June 11, 2024. On June 11, 2024, a meeting of the Presidium of RAS was held chaired by President of RAS Academician of RAS Gennady Krasnikov. The key issue was the discussion of the tasks and potential of modern geophysics to ensure the technological sovereignty of the Russian Federation. Academician of RAS Alexander Gliko, a member of the Presidium of RAS, made a short speech on the role of geophysics in the development of Russian science in the XX century.

The main speaker was Director of the Schmidt Institute of Physics of the Earth RAS Corresponding Member of RAS Sergey Tikhotsky. His co-speakers were: Academician of RAS Mikhail Epov, Director of the Geophysical Center of RAS Corresponding Member of RAS Anatoly Soloviev, Director of the Institute of Earthquake Prediction Theory and Mathematical Geophysics RAS Corresponding Member of RAS Pyotr Shebalin, Director General of the State Commission on Mineral Reserves D.Sc. Igor Shpurov.

The report of Corresponding Member of RAS Anatoly Soloviev was devoted to modern geophysical methods for supporting high-tech directional drilling processes and the results of the GC RAS in this area.
