October 7, 2024. On October 7, 2024, Scientific Secretary of the GC RAS PhD Roman Krasnoperov delivered the lecture "Introduction to Space Geophysics, Cosmonautics" for second-year students of the Faculty of Geology of Lomonosov Moscow State University. It opened a new series of lectures within the special course "Satellite Geophysics".

The lecture was devoted to the main historical stages in the exploration of the Earth and near-Earth outer space using artificial satellites. Roman Krasnoperov briefly spoke about the first steps of world rocket engineering and about the breakthrough made during the International Geophysical Year (1957–1958), when the first artificial Earth satellites were launched in the USSR and then in the USA. The scientist revealed the features of the orbits of the spacecrafts used to study our planet. The lecturer reviewed the main historical and modern national and foreign satellite missions (including planned ones) aimed at studying the Earth's magnetic and gravitational fields, as well as solving problems in geodesy and geodynamics.
