November 13, 2024. On November 13, 2024, a joint Scientific Seminar of the GC RAS and the Scientific Council of RAS for the Studies of the Arctic and Antarctic was held.

The report "On the Use of Satellite Data in Developing Tools for Regulating Access to Arctic Waters" was presented by associate professor PhD Zhanna Vyacheslavovna Vasilyeva, the head of the Department of Ecology and Technosphere Safety of Murmansk Arctic University (MAU) and the Laboratory of Ecoengineering and Monitoring of Arctic Pollution, a member of the Scientific Council of RAS for the Studies of the Arctic and Antarctic.

Zhanna Vasilyeva presented a methodology developed by scientists at MAU for quantifying greenhouse gas emissions from shipping based on AIS data from satellite systems. The speaker highlighted the creation of the Arctic Marine Logistics Center of the Kola Science Center RAS – MAU. It would help to promote the development of the Arctic logistics system and ensure the independence of Russian shipping and logistics companies.
