May 20, 2025. On May 12–16, 2025, the VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference “Fundamental and Applied Aspects of Geology, Geophysics, and Geoecology Using Modern Information Technologies” was held in Maikop, the Republic of Adygea.
The organizers were Maikop State Technological University (MSTU), Adyghe State University, and the Institute of Ecology of the Abkhazian Regional Academy of Sciences. The event was supported by the Geophysical Center RAS, the Institute of Atmospheric Physics named after A. M. Obukhov RAS, Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Sustainable Development Consortium, and others.
The program committee was co-chaired by Chief Scientist of the GC RAS, Academician of RAS Alexey Gvishiani. Among the members of the program committee there were scientists of the GC RAS: Deputy Director for Science, D.Sc. Boris Dzeboev, Principal Research Scientist, D.Sc. Sergey Lebedev, and Leading Research Scientist, D.Sc. Andrey Kostianoy.
On May 13, at the plenary session, Sergey Lebedev made a report entitled "Satellite Oceanology. Current State and Development Prospects". On May 14, the scientist headed the section "Climate Change and Its Consequences" and presented reports "Wave Climate of the Barents Sea According to Satellite Altimetry Data" (co-authored with D.Sc. Andrey Kostianoy, Leading Engineer of the GC RAS Evgenia Kostianaia, and PhD Alexander Bocharov) and "River Volga Flood Propagation on the Caspian Sea Area Based on Satellite Altimetry Data" (co-author Andrey Kostyanoy).
