May 21, 2025. On May 21, 2025, we congratulate the researchers of the polar regions on the Day of the Polar Explorer.
This holiday was established in 2013 on the initiative of the outstanding oceanologist, polar researcher, Corresponding Member of RAS Arthur Chilingarov. The day of celebration was chosen in honor of the beginning of the first scientific expedition of the polar drifting station North Pole, which resulted in obtaining unique data on the Arctic.
Today, this strategically important region is being researched by scientists of the 42nd North Pole Expedition using the North Pole ice-resistant self-propelled platform and satellite groups. At scientific stations in Antarctica, including the famous Vostok Station, polar explorers study the history of the Earth's climate, subglacial lakes, cosmic particles, and conduct a number of other important studies.
We pay tribute to the work of specialists whose research helps to study, explore the Arctic and Antarctic and preserve their nature, as well as gain new knowledge about our planet. We wish you perseverance in difficult conditions and new successes in exploring the polar regions.
