September 24, 2025. The V All-Russian School of Young Scientists "System Analysis of the Dynamics of Natural Processes in the Russian Arctic" was held on September 22–24, 2025.

The event has been organized by the Geophysical Center RAS since 2021 with the support of the Russian Science Foundation. The Program Committee is co-chaired by the Chief Scientist of the GC RAS, Academician of RAS Alexey Gvishiani and the Director of the GC RAS, Corresponding Member of RAS Anatoly Soloviev. This year, the school was attended by members of the Russian Academy of Sciences: the academicians Alexey Gvishiani, Nikolay Kasimov, and Vladimir Semenov, as well as the corresponding members Anatoly Soloviev, Igor Rosenberg, and Pyotr Shebalin.

The aim of the school is to draw the attention of young scientists to the research of the Russian Arctic and to acquaint them with the latest scientific achievements.

On September 22, Anatoly Soloviev delivered a welcoming speech at the opening of the event: "This is the fifth school of young scientists. On the one hand, every year we try to shape the program in such a way as to avoid repetitions: to attract new speakers and reveal new topics. On the other hand, some disciplines devoted to the study of the Arctic are developing quite dynamically, which allows us to invite specialists repeatedly to learn about the latest achievements. This time we managed to strike a balance between these important principles, and I hope that the audience will appreciate it. It is nice to see that each subsequent school attracts new students from new institutions, and there are young scientists who have already participated in the schools. It seems to me that our approach to organization is optimal and ensures the success of the event."

On the first day, leading scientists gave lectures on the topics of the Earth's magnetic field and space weather, seismology, and Arctic expeditions. Representatives of the Russian University of Transport (MIIT) took part in the scientific program. On September 23, lectures were devoted to modeling the structure of the lithosphere, studying the shelf and deep-sea waters of the Arctic Ocean, and also the hydrodynamics of Russia's Arctic rivers. A lecture on regional climate change caused a heated discussion. The phenomena of upper-atmospheric lightning and anomalies of the Earth's rotation in recent years were also considered. Academician of the RAS Vladimir Semenov delivered a lecture on the dynamics of Arctic sea ice. On September 24, in addition to the main program, the participants of the event took an excursion to the Vernadsky State Geological Museum RAS.

"It seems to me that the event was a success," said the secretary of the school's program committee, PhD Roman Krasnoperov. "The main difference of this year's school was that it was the first time we held it in the city. In two days, 17 lectures were delivered, and more than 30 young researchers from Moscow, Yakutsk, and St. Petersburg took part in them. In their reports, the lecturers covered a fairly wide range of topics that aroused the keen interest of the audience."
