February 19, 2026. On February 18, 2026, the 95th meeting of the Scientific Council of the Geophysical Center RAS was held. It was chaired by Academician of RAS Alexey Gvishiani, Chief Scientist of the GC RAS.
The central event was a scientific report titled "Discrete Mathematical Analysis: Recent Results in the Light of Projects and Government Assignments of the GC RAS", presented by D.Sc. Sergey Agayan, Principal Research Scientist at the GC RAS.
Discrete mathematical analysis (DMA) is a researcher-oriented approach to data analysis that occupies an intermediate position between rigorous mathematical methods and soft computational techniques. A decision made within the DMA framework consists of two parts: first, the researcher’s logic is analyzed, and then, using the DMA apparatus, this logic is transformed into an algorithm.
Sergey Agayan demonstrated how his previously developed approach could be applied to a new task – studying the characteristics of the Earth's electromagnetic field. The work was carried out within the framework of new projects at the GC RAS, and the speaker presented the first results obtained.
