June 18, 2018. The Bureau of the Earth Sciences Branch of RAS has finally approved the candidacy of Academician A. D. Gvishiani as the scientific leader of GC RAS. The appointment will take effect after the election of the new director of GC RAS. Until then, Aleksey Dzhermenovich remains the current director.

In addition, three candidates for the position of Director of GC RAS, nominated by the Academic Council of the Institute were approved at the meeting of the Bureau: A. A. Soloviev, Deputy Director for Science, Corresponding Member of RAS; V. N. Tatarinov, Head of the Laboratory of Geodynamics; E. O. Kedrov, Head of the Laboratory of Electronic Publications.
