July 26, 2018. Electronic journal “Vestnik ONZ RAN” ("Newsletters of the Department of Earth Sciences"), published by GC RAS, opens a new section "Historical fact", which will be devoted to the history of science, in particular, the history of Earth sciences.

In the modern society of the 21st century, the spirit of scientific rivalry is not confined to research. Today you need to be able to talk about your scientific discipline so that they hear you. Many research workers of institutes have much to tell about their life in science, moreover, many managed to work not only in modern Russia, but also in the USSR. This section will include texts on the history of international and Soviet projects, the scientific life of prominent representatives of Soviet and Russian science, as well as the history and evolution of ideas etc. The idea of the appearance of a historical rubric in the journal corresponds to the actual world trend related to the history of science and its popularization. At the initiative of the scientists of the Geophysical Center, a collection of materials devoted to the history of geophysics has already been formed.
