July 4, 2024. According to the results of 2023, the Russian Journal of Earth Sciences (RJES) has improved its performance in the Web of Science citation database. The journal has been included in the fourth quartile (Q4) in the categories "Geosciences" and "Multidisciplinary".

The citation index of RJES is in the core of the Web of Science Core Collection database, the Emerging Sources Citation Index. The journal impact factor (JIF) is 0.7, and the 5-year impact factor is 0.8.

RJES has been published since 1998 by the Geophysical Center of RAS. The journal publishes articles on the most important achievements in geology, geophysics, and geochemistry, including geoinformatics, ecology, and atmospheric and ocean physics.

RJES has high scientometric indicators in the leading citation databases: Scopus, the Web of Science, RSCI, and GeoRef. The journal is included in the third quartile (Q3) of Scopus in the category "Earth and Planetary Sciences". It is in the 3rd quartile in ScimagoJR and has a CiteScore of 1.9. In the academic journal ranting Russian Science Citation Index, the Russian Journal of Earth Sciences is in the first quartile K1, with a normalized rating of 0.410. In the overall ranting of RSCI, RJES ranks 143rd out of 931. In the thematic rating "OECD 105. Earth and Related Environmental Sciences", it ranks 21st out of 61. The 5-year impact factor in RSCI is 1.155.
