November 8, 2024. On October 29, 2024, the Presidium of RAS approved the new composition of the Scientific Council of RAS for the Studies of the Arctic and Antarctic. It included scientists of the Geophysical Center RAS. Chief Scientist of the GC RAS Academician of RAS Alexey Gvishiani continues to work as the chairman. The Bureau of the Council included Director of the GC RAS Corresponding Member of RAS Anatoly Soloviev. For the first time, the Deputy Director for Science of the GC RAS D.Sc. Boris Dzeboev was appointed Scientific Secretary of the Council.

"It's a great honor to be appointed as the scientific secretary of the Council. I am glad to get an opportunity to contribute to the study and development of the Russian Arctic. There is a lot of interesting work to be done," Boris Dzeboev said.

The Scientific Council of RAS for the Studies of the Arctic and Antarctic operates under the Presidium of RAS. The Council is an expert and scientific advisory body of RAS. It was created in order to plan and coordinate fundamental scientific research in the polar regions.
