March 24, 2021. The weekly newspaper of the scientific community "Poisk" published an interview of the chief researcher of the laboratory of electronic publications of GC RAS, head of the laboratory of physics of near-earth space of the Schmidt Institute of Physics of the Earth RAS, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor V. A.Pilipenko.
In the project "System analysis of the dynamics of geophysical processes in the Russian Arctic and their impact on the development and functioning of the railway transport infrastructure" supported by the Russian Science Foundation (RSF), Vyacheslav Anatolyevich heads a research group, which includes leading scientists from GC RAS, Schmidt Institute of Physics of the Earth RAS, Institute of Earthquake Prediction Theory and Mathematical Geophysics RAS, Shirshov Institute of Oceanology RAS, Polar Geophysical Institute, Ufa State Aviation Technical University.
The project is a large-scale scientific study covering four main areas: investigating the impact of space weather on energy and railway systems, studying large geological structures and sedimentary basins, assessing seismic and geodynamic hazards in areas of promising infrastructure development in the Russian Arctic, as well as climatic processes critical for its development. All this will allow us to assess the risks and avoid the possible impact of geophysical processes on the energy and transport systems of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.
