February 8, 2026 Today we celebrate Russian Science Day.

The scientists of the Geophysical Center RAS study space weather and magnetic storms, predict auroras, and create and improve observatories that allow them to look deep into the Earth. Our scientists explore the planet's distant past and contribute to its future by working on the safe disposal of radioactive waste. GC RAS specialists help to extract hard-to-recover hydrocarbons and search for gold deposits. We are making our country better understood and safer, from the Arctic to the Caucasus, creating innovative developments that make exploring the Earth more exciting, organizing conferences, publishing scientific articles on the most pressing issues, and carrying out much other important work in the field of Russian science.
